AGATT!

Just a head’s up, folks – the leaves are dropping (well, around here anyway). Suit up all the way! You’ll miss your when the flesh is ground off against the pavement and the bone is shattered beyond relief.

Now get the hell out there and ride!

All Gear All The Time (During Autumn!)!

When the weather cools down too much, then I’ll do that writeup.  I have no time anymore and what time I have I’m not going to sit here!

And just for shits’n’giggles, we broke 20k views last month.  Kinda nifty, right?

Amsoil: WOW

with 2 comments

At my 1000mi service interval, I switched to Amsoil for the engine, transmission, and chaincase.

I could tell the difference immediately, but I didn’t want to say anything for a while because I wanted to be sure I’m not crazy.

The engine ran several degrees cooler (used an IR sensor), and I’ve messed with the tuning and the pipes a lot but I’m confident she’s still running better with synths than if I’d kept dino oils.   But most know this as far as engine oil goes.

The real kicker is in shifting: the gears engage much more smoothly than before with the old dino oil in there.  I could tell because neutral was looking for me, pretty much.  No more hunting, it’s right where it should be.  Right after swapping to Amsoil – the very same day – it was apparent.

So that’s my soapboxing.  Of course, after 20k (the required interval for changing tranny lube … YES I SAID TRANNY LUBE, it’s more awesome to write than to say!), I might have a different story to tell, but I doubt that.  You’ll certainly find out.

I actually loved the Amsoil so much I signed up to be a middleman.  Since you can only buy it from a “dealer” rather than finding it retail, I figured I might as well be my own middleman.  Most of their products are about double the going rate of Castrol or Mobil, but at $8 a quart it’s not like you’ll go broke splurging.  Full disclosure: I never used any other synthetic but Amsoil.

So I’m my best customer.  They were supposed to get me a link so I could share it and get a cut of those glorious profits, but obviously I’m not really in it for the money.  Just google for an Amsoil dealer locally and you’ll be doing yourself a favor.
